chanukkah-in-nohosm.jpgAnd on the second to  last day of Hanukkah, here in North Hollywood, we don’t exactly have potato latkes but instead I had an urge to make some falafel (using a powdered mix by Sadaf that I wasn’t too crazy about). We threw the whole thing together rather quickly, and only realized as we were about to eat that this definitely looked like an L.A. Hanukkah. Guacamole, pico de Gallo (instead of Israeli salad), hummus, moroccan matbucha (grilled peppers, tomatoes, garlic, etc.), sauteed eggplant, Israeli couscous, and I even made “Bissli” style onions (I coated onion strips with the falafel mix and dropped it in the oil with the balls). The whole thing could have been an ad for Sabra products. If they need to work on their positioning I can help them - “southwest meets mediterranean.” I like it!
